Tribute ist eine Hommage an die japanischen Idole der 70er und deren blühende Popkultur.
Die Idole verkörpern die perfekte weibliche Form der japanischen Gesellschaft. Sie liefern konventionelle Schönheit durch Ihre fiktive Persönlichkeit und Ihr sorgfältig inszeniertes Äußeres. Die in ganz Japan bekannten Teenie-Idole spielten eine wichtige Rolle, indem sie ihre Kultur für das Publikum darstellten.
In dem Stück durchleuchtet Yoshie Shibahara das Thema der Idole in all ihren Facetten und übersetzt dieses in ihren eigenen künstlerischen Ausdruck.

Tributes are a homage to the Japanese idols of the 70s and their thriving pop culture.
The idols embody the perfect female form of Japanese society. They deliver conventional beauty through their fictional personality and carefully staged appearance. The teen idols known throughout Japan played an important role in representing their culture to the audience.
In the piece, Yoshie Shibahara examines the theme of idols in all their facets and translates it into her own artistic expression.

»Clever and unpretentious as usual, Yoshie Shibahara dissenters pop poses into her fragments, citing the body clichés of showbiz in subdued dynamics or with melancholic rather than erotic attitudes. Thus she decouvrates the trisesse in the supposed Glamou world with images of her poetic-modest dance stage cosmos - a touching retrospective on her own illusions and ideals.«
